Classical mechanics, as formulated by Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727) in the seventeenth century, is obeyed by macroscopic 'particles' such as planets and rigid bodies. The interaction of solar wind particles with Earth's magnetic field when it enters into Earth's atmosphere from outer space

The motion of molten iron in the earth's core generates the earth's magnetic field, which extends into space and creates a protective zone known as the magnetosphere. This magnetosphere acts as a barrier against the particles of the solar wind. When the charged particles of the solar wind enter into the earth's magnetic field, they are deflected by the magnetic field and compelled to follow its lines of force toward the poles.    image source: hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu Solar wind is a flow of charged particles, mainly consisting of protons and electrons, which are  constantly emitted by the sun.
